FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN SEEING A PERSONAL TRAINER? All you need to bring is a willingness to give it a go. I’ve worked with all ages and fitness levels, and as your Personal Trainer, I’ll take care of everything—from setting up the machines and adjusting the weights to demonstrating each exercise and guiding you through it with support and encouragement. Not every exercise will involve weights—each session includes a variety of movements to keep things engaging, effective, and tailored to you.
HOW DO I MAKE BOOKINGS? Before getting in touch, please take a moment to read through the information on this page. Our initial Consultation is: $49 This gives you the chance to see if my approach is the right fit for you, discuss your goals, and discuss the health screening information. We offer Reformer Pilates or Weight based Personal Training and you may wish to experience both or combine a bootcamp with one or the other - many options! Once you're ready, you can contact us via email or text (details below), or head straight to Wellness Living by clicking the Book Now button. From there, register and purchase the consultation, then suggest a time that suits you.
CAN I SEE A PERSONAL TRAINER IF I HAVE AN INJURY? This depends on what injury you have and stage of rehabilitation. Generally you want to seek medical advice and clearance before exercising. This is when the CONSULTATION is important as I can then assess if you will be ready and provide adaptations to exercises if required. Please bring any notes or information relating to the injury to the consultation.
DO YOU ASSIST WITH NUTRITION? I’ve studied Nutrition for over 18 years, and it’s something I’m truly passionate about. I’m always happy to have a conversation around how it may support your goals. I’ve helped many clients not just with weight loss, but with improving overall health through food and hydration choices—while also considering factors like stress, sleep, hormones, genetics, and exercise. Please note: I am not a registered Dietitian or Registered Nutritionist.
WHAT IS THE CONSULTATION? This is a $49 no obligation consultation for you to come and see if this is the best option for you and your wellbeing / goals taking around 40-45 minutes. When this is booked you will be asked to fill in online a Health Screening form. If you have any questions contact me via email or phone so I can help. There are NO contracts or further financial commitments.
HOW MANY SESSIONS SHOULD I BE DOING A WEEK? This depends on your fitness goals, what fitness level you are, how fast your body adapts and recovers. I recommend attending no more than 1-2 sessions a week, to get the best results, however you may eventually add in a Reformer Pilates Class or try our Strength & Flow class which is also weights based not on the reformer - details of both are found in the tab above.
WILL IT JUST BE ME? At my studio you are the centre of attention, there is no one else in the studio. It is in a private setting with 1:1 attention given to you and all equipment was purchased new. Privacy & Confidentiality are core components of my business. However you may choose to workout with a friend or join the Strength & Flow Class which is weights based also and not on the Reformer. Further details on other class options are in the tabs above.
WHAT DO I NEED TO WEAR & BRING? Please arrive at the studio wearing comfortable workout clothing that allows you to move freely. For hygiene reasons, the following items are essential: *A sweat towel *A water bottle *Clean sneakers (no mud or grass, please) We also recommend having a light meal or snack beforehand—exercising on an empty stomach can cause blood sugar levels to drop quickly, leaving you feeling faint. All other equipment is provided in the studio, and we have a bathroom available for your convenience.
WHAT HOURS ARE YOU OPEN? Personal Training is available Monday to Thursday, while our Pilates Reformer studio operates 7 days a week. Please note: Personal Training will pause for 4-6 weeks over the Christmas period. The Pilates Studio will remain open, except for a short break between Christmas and New Year to allow everyone a chance to recharge.
WHAT DO YOU CHARGE? My session charge is starts at $79 for 55 minutes, which reduces depending on the package you purchase down to $65 OR Two friends are welcome to train together and this cost is $89 per session for two clients or $47.50 each OR I do offer a 25 minute session at $49, which also reduces based on the package you purchase. Payment is required in advance, either via a package or if you are paying weekly the payment is required the week prior to your appointment.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY? We have a 12-hour cancellation policy for Personal Training sessions. If you can’t make your session, please ensure you cancel at least 12 hours in advance—this way, your session will be automatically credited back to your account. If you cancel within 12 hours or do not show up, the session will be charged. We understand that life happens, but to be fair to all clients and to keep the business running smoothly, we do need to be consistent with this policy. If you're unwell (including COVID) or injured, please get in touch directly via message—we’ll do our best to support you and arrange a credit where appropriate.
HOW DO I CANCEL MY PERSONAL TRAINING? Please cancel your session via the online booking system—this releases the spot back for others to book. We also really appreciate a quick text, especially with as much notice as possible, as it may allow us to reintroduce a Reformer class into that time slot. In this case, we don’t mind receiving early morning messages—thank you for helping us keep things running smoothly!
HOW DO I CANCEL MY PACKAGE? If you find #torque PERSONAL TRAINING isn’t for you, simply send a cancellation request to torquefitnessnz@gmail.com before your next payment is due. We do not offer a refund, however we can offer a credit to your account to use in another part of the business.
I'M PREGNANT CAN I STILL ATTEND SESSIONS? You sure can. I have worked with Midwives in the past during clients pregnancy and postnatal if returning soon after birth. This is to keep you supported and safe as the body changes. It is important to remain active during pregnancy.
WHEN CAN I GET BACK INTO SESSIONS POST BABY? I ask that you wait until at least 6 weeks after you have given birth. If you want to come back earlier, I request clearance from your medical practitioner. If you birthed via C-section a 12 week wait is required. I trained to work alongside Physiotherapists and Obstetricians if there are any post-natal issues.
PRE/POST NATAL - CAN I BRING MY BABY? Yes you can. I've had some clients bring their babies who've grown into teenagers over the years they have been seeing me.
